WHAT IS A COLONIC
A colonic is like doing yoga for your colon. Disposable speculum and tubing are used to introduce filtered and sterilized water into the colon. The water is the medium for recent waste to leave with the out flow and to hydrate and loosen older fecal matter. I will work to your comfort level maintaining a constant dialogue about what I am doing and what you are experiencing. I work to make each colonic as comfortable and effective as possible. The more 'out of shape' you colon is the more likely you will feel the 'exercising' from the water going in and out. Time to spend on the toilet is included in the 1 hour session. Menstruation is not only not a time to avoid colonics but is recommended as a colonic can make it more comfortable.

WHY DO COLON HYDROTHERAPY
Our digestive system is a processing plant that is designed to have continuous activity. If food went in and it didn't come out...it is still in there waiting to be rescued. Most people need a series of 3 or more colonics combined with lifestyle changes and exercise. Adding products that support the body in releasing old waste will speed up the cleansing and toning of the digestive system.  ​
Fecal matter can accumulate and harden in the colon which: Prevents the absorption of water and nutrients.
Leads to constipation.
Allows harmful bacteria, yeast and parasites to thrive.
Causes toxins to be absorbed into the blood through the colon wall (called autointoxication).

This leads to lack of energy, problems sleeping, protruding belly, gas and bloating.


Lack of water and fiber, and a diet of processed food, sugar, animal protein can contribute to these problems.
 
Before the colonic:
  • it is recommended to not eat at least 2 hours before
  • drink 10-12 glasses of water in the 24 hours prior.
  • minimize or avoid completely; sugar, flour products, coffee, alcohol, chewing gum, fried foods, soy, dairy and processed foods.
  • do eat fresh fruits and vegetables, lean animal protein, whole grains i.e. oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice, beans i.e hummus, lentils, chickpeas, mung beans, kidney beans, sea weed, nuts and seeds.
After the colonic:
  • Depending what condition your digestive system is in and how the session goes you should be fine going about your usual day. Often people find due to the detoxification they feel lighter and have more energy. Others feel taking it easy and resting when tired helpful. Any day though particularly after a colonic you want to be near a bathroom when you drink or eat anything including water. Other than that you can usually continue with your usual day.

Mobilizing old food and waste to leave your body is a top priority alongside implementing lifestyle changes to maintain regularity and health.

Helpful in this are:

  • 3/4 - 1 gallon of water separate to food a day

  • lots of probiotics

  • fresh fruit

  • Prune Juice

  • chia seeds soaked in water

  • flax seeds soaked in water

  • herbal and fiber supplements

  • fresh vegetable/green juices

  • wheatgrass juice

  • 1-3 tablespoons of coconut oil

  • warm water and lemon juice

  • 1-2 tbsp apple cider vinegar in water

  • milk of magnesium

  • psyllium fiber

  • castor oil in orange juice - strong measure
